The history of the Enugu State College of Nursing Sciences Agwu Campus (ESCONSAGWU) cannot be told without tracing the history of the upgraded of Basic Midwifery, Agwu and its mother General Hospital Awgu (as it was called). Established as far back as 1954 in the East Central Region as a Cottage hospital .

The Enugu State College of Nursing Sciences Agwu Campus is staffed in line with the regulations of NMCN and NBTE; has adequate hostel accommodation for male and female students, a transport facility, and a modern security facility. The college has a standard basic science laboratory, a well-equipped library, an e-library unit, a well-equipped ICT lab, and indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The college also has a 250-bed capacity hospital with an outpatient clinic and accident and emergency unit.
